Overview
Creation Platform is a sophisticated development platform that includes multiple APIs and tools. In order to help developers begin learning about how Creation Platform works, how it can be used, what APIs and tools are available and how they all work together, there is a concise “getting started” document. This is a good place to start if you want to learn more about development with Creation Platform.
In-Depth
For more in-depth information about different parts of Creation Platform a collection of programming guides and references is available.
- The Creation Platform Programming Guide (PDF, HTML) explains the Creation Platform Python API, how to work with the Scene Graph nodes, build scenes, and custom applications.
- The Creation Platform Licensing Guide (PDF, HTML) explains Creation Platform licensing concepts, presents licensing options and explains how to set up both local (node-locked) and floating (server-based) licenses for Creation Platform.
- The Creation Platform KL Programming Guide (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) is an in-depth reference for writing code in the KL programming language, Creation Platform’s high-performance language for operator code.
- The Creation Platform Dependency Graph Programming Guide (PDF, HTML) explains how to use Creation Platform’s dependency graph model for high-performance parallel computation. The dependency graph model is particularly well-suited to many computational problems in animation and simulation.
- The Creation Platform Server Programming Guide (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) explains how to set up Creation Platform for command-line usage (as is typically done on the server) and walks the reader through the development of a simple HTTP server that uses Creation Platform for computation.
- The Creation Platform Map-Reduce Programming Guide (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) explains how to use Creation Platform’s map-reduce model for high-performance parallel computation. The map-reduce model is particularly well-suited to many server-side computational problems.
- The Creation Platform Extensions Reference (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) documents the different extensions that are bundled with Creation Platform. Extensions provide API access to third-party libraries such as hardware interfaces, physics engines and OpenGL.
- The Creation Platform Instrumentation Guide (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) explains how to use profiling and instrumentation to identify performance bottlenecks in Creation Platform applications.
- The Creation Platform Realtime Renderer Guide (PDF, HTML) documents the features of and how to use the real-time renderer.
- The Creation Platform DCC Integration Guide (PDF, HTML) documents the features of and how to use the real-time renderer.
- The C/C++ API Programming Guide (PDF, HTML, ePub, MOBI) introduces the low-level C/C++ API that can be used to interface applications and other code written in C or C++ with the Creation Core.
